With Ant-Man and the Wasp release just around the corner, a really shocking observation came from the latest TV spot which established the fact that Ant-Man and the Wasp is set in the same time as Infinity War that is 2018. The films are closely set than the fans previously thought.
The latest TV spot poked fun at Ant-Man’s absence in Infinity War, but also featured an important line of dialogue. “Two years under house arrest,” an FBI agent says to Scott. “You haven’t had any contact with Hank or Hope, have you?” If Scott’s been under house arrest for two years that means Ant-Man & the Wasp is set in 2018 – the same year as Avengers: Infinity War. While this may be a deliberate decision on Marvel’s part. We take a look why marvel would have done this deliberately.
As we know we didn’t get to see Ant-Man and the Wasp in Infinity War. And now if the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp are set with the Infinity War, it may be the case that Ant-Man and the Wasp fighting the Ghost as the other Avengers fought off the mad titan.
And if this is true, then Thanos’ snap can come at any point of time in the film. It would totally confuse Lang, Hank and Hope as people start to disintegrate around them. That would make sense of a strange comment from Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who revealed that the narrative of Ant-Man & the Wasp is closely connected to their film. “From a plot standpoint,” Joe Russo noted, “if there’s any corollary, Ant-Man and the Wasp probably has some elements that stitch in.” His brother Anthony chipped in with a humorous comment, “But we can’t talk about that.”
This could really mean that the events of both the films are interweaved and that would be a delight to see how the film while showing its own events remains consistent with the ongoing Avengers events. While this is a major decision on the part of Marvel and it would put a great burden on the film. But the fans are still confused as to why Marvel is complicating the timing so much? Why Marvel is going through such complications like to remove some heroes from Infinity War and now they are literally interweaving two movies and not just stand-alone movies but an ensemble movie and a standalone movie which makes thing a lot complex and messier.
