Avengers 4 Theory – Here’s How Captain America Can Lift Mjolnir!

Thor: Ragnarok showed the fans Thor’s beloved Mjolnir getting destroyed. While he did get an even more powerful weapon – Stormbreaker in Avengers: Infinity War, but there’s a still chance that Mjolnir could come back in Avengers 4 and none other than Captain America wields Mjolnir against Thanos, yes you heard that right Captain America is worthy to wield the Mjolnir.

Ilurkthingsreborn – a Redditor posted a full-length post full of ‘spoilers’ about Avengers 4 claiming that he had an inside source. His previous account was deleted where he posted predictions for Infinity War and they turned out to be pretty accurate.

Infinity War saw the mad titan going on a rampage to get all the infinity stones, he even killed his most beloved daughter in the process and as he received all the stones, the snap of his fingers, he obliterated half of the universe to restore ‘balance’ in the universe.

In doing so, Thanos also wiped out a bunch of new age heroes including all of the remaining Guardians of Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Spiderman, Black Panther and others. While the original Avengers were left. We’ll see the Avengers fighting Thanos in Avengers 4 to undo what Thanos has done.

The spoilers that were leaked were compiled into a theory as follows by Huffington Post:

In Avengers 4 the surviving heroes supposedly travel back in time to collect the Infinity Stones for a Stark-built Infinity Gauntlet. Certain set photos have already showing Cap in his Avengers-era costume alongside Ant-Man, meaning that several of them could return to the Battle of New York in some capacity. So this actually makes a lot of sense. The technology allows them to time-travel will probably relate to the Quantum Realm presented in Ant-Man but also to Tony Stark’s “Binary Augmented Retro Framing.” Both have been a part of speculation so far.

But according to the rumour, the interesting part is Captain America wielding Mjolnir against Thanos. – “… at one point bearded Steve and Thor have a fight scene against Thanos where Thor gets blown away and Cap actually ends up wielding Mjolnir because he has finally been found worthy. However, I was told that Thanos does end up killing Cap. I’m not sure what plotlines lead to Mjolnir having never broken and it does seem weird that they would introduce Stormbreaker in this past movie but this is what I was told.”

But how could Steve Rogers even pick up the Mjolnir? It was only supposed to be wielded by someone ‘worthy’ only. So, how’s Captain, a man on steroids worthy? Is he really worth? His worthiness was tested back in Age of Ultron when everyone took turns trying to pick the hammer up. It wouldn’t even budge for anyone until it shifted slightly for Rogers. So does that mean he’s worthy? Or a little bit worthy?

In Comic-Con 2015, Joss Whedon was asked if Steve was really worthy, to which he said – “Did he fail? Or did he stop?” The idea was left open for future exploration. Also, when Anthony and Joe Russo were asked the same question at the time of Civil War, Anthony said –  “I don’t know that might be a …” Anthony Russo said, “that might be a question for future storytellers.” Joe added, “Might be a little too specific for us to answer.”

Considering the time travel of the Avengers, we might see Mjolnir come back in Avengers 4. But do you guys think Steve Rogers is worthy of wielding it? Do let us know in the comment section below!
