Avengers: Infinity War came, and it conquered all. The movie for which we waited almost ten years gave more than what we expected from. Avengers: Infinity War was a perfect roller coaster ride packed with hell lot of actions and emotions. The movie didn’t take time to convey that the stakes are high this time as in the very beginning we saw main characters Starlord(Chris Pratt), Iron Man(Robert Downey Jr.), Doctor Strange(Benedict Cumberbatch) getting slaughtered by the hand of Mad Titan Thanos(Josh Brolin). After it’s humongous success people are arguing the way Thanos could have been stopped and Avengers could have gained the control.
We know that Thanos couldn’t have got all the Infinity Stones if Gamora was killed earlier or if Scarlet Witch would have killed Vision earlier and destroyed mind stone. Similar to these, many theories and plotlines are doing round on the net. However, a thing from the movie which has pinched the fans most is Starlord’s irresponsible behaviour during the primary fight scene. When the main characters, Iron Man and Spiderman were about to get the Gauntlet off Thanos’ arm, Starlord lost his control as he came to know about the death of Gamora. That sudden rage caused Avengers to lose the fight against Thanos leading to destruction in the whole universe.
Many fans voiced their anger against Starlord losing his calm at the pivotal moment and the whole net was soon filled with the memes mocking the character. People supporting him are saying that being in love with Gamora made him lose temper which is somewhat plausible as Starlord has almost lost everyone in his life be it his mother, biological father or the father who brought him up. In a recent interview Chris Pratt also supported the actions of Starlord by saying that “Look – the guy watched his mother die, he watched as his father-figure died in his arms, he was forced to kill his biological father. And now has suffered the loss of the love of his life. So I think he reacted in a way that’s very human, and I think the humanity of the Guardians of the Galaxy is what sets them apart from other superheroes. I think if we did it a hundred times I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Chris Pratt funnily also added that Avengers: Infinity War would have ended quite sooner if everything was done as per the plan. This would have taken away this epic roller coaster adventure from us. He also added “I guess you could have the movie end a half hour earlier if you wanted, but it seemed like people liked this. And also, I blame Thanos, OK? Jeez, how come he’s not getting any blame?” That’s a really good point, right? I’m very sensitive about this”
Keeping this moment aside, let’s assume for a moment that Starlord(Chris Pratt) didn’t lose his calm and everything went as Avengers planned. We still believe that Thanos who has high intelligence levels along with many powers and abilities would have kicked everyone’s ass without the Gauntlet. The Infinity War directors also agree on the same point as they said “Thanos trashed half of the universe without the Stones. I mean, he went from planet to planet slaughtering people. He’s unbelievably powerful without the Stones. I think they would’ve been very disappointed to get the glove off of him and find he was still beating the daylights out of them.”
So, to sum it all, we shouldn’t treat character of Starlord so harshly and wait for the next movie, maybe in that he emerges out to be the hero(if he is still alive) we all needed in the fight against Thanos.
