FAFSA HAS ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR IN 2021 : HOW TO FIX IT?

Federal Student Aid is a part of the United States Department of Education. They are the largest provider of student financial aid in the United States. Each year more than 13 million students are benefited from FAFSA Aid.

FAFSA processes approximately 20 million applications each year. They are responsible for correctly matching and disbursing aids to students in over 6000 schools and colleges. So the smooth operation of online form submission system is very important. But sometimes there is a glitch in the system and as a result users face difficulties. Today, I will try to address one such issue which is becoming increasingly common in 2021.

CAN’T SUBMIT FORM ERROR 2021

Are you one of those users who are getting errors while submitting the form on the FAFSA portal? “FAFSA has encountered an error, we apologize for any inconvenience” . Read my guide below and them hopefully you can bypass this error and submit your FAFSA form with ease.

GUIDE ON HOW TO OVERCOME THIS ERROR

I am assuming that you know your school or college details and have already inputted the details on FAFSA PORTAL. Follow the step by step guide below :

STEP 1

Go to the home page of FAFSA portal. (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid). Then You will have to click on returning user. I assumed that you already filled up your details earlier but failed to submit the form due to this error.

STEP 2

Log in to the FAFSA portal using your ID and Password and accept the terms of use too. Then after successfully logged in you will see your “Current Application Status”. There will be two options in your screen. One of them will be Continue. You will be needing to press that. Provide your preexisting safe key and press enter. Now follow Step 3.

STEP 3

After you input your safe key, the portal will take you straight to parent and student sign tab. Do not do that just now. Click the tab adjacent to it – “Student Financials” . After you click this tab, see there will be a small button “Save” on the top right corner. Press that save button and the entire student financial column will be re-saved. Then you click Next. Double check all the details. When you are done go back to the student and parent signature page. You will see the same save button on the top right corner. Click that again. Then sign your application and each time after signing save it by clicking that save button. Then try submitting the form. In all probability you should get no errors now and your form will be submitted.

The next steps are for those users who followed all steps 1 till 3 yet their form didn’t get submitted

STEP 4

Follow step 1, Log in to the portal as returning user and accept the terms of use. You will by default be taken to the signature page. Just click the save button on the top right corner, then click exit button on the top left. Press ok to that dialog box that comes right after pressing exit. After that you will be taken back to the Current Application Status page. Press continue and input your safe key again.

STEP 5

Now you will be on the same student signing page back again. It’s all part of a process just bear with it. Now you will have to click on Student Demographics page. Now check all the information again and keep on pressing next until you get to the signature page. Do the signatures of both students and parents and agree to all terms. After that try submitting the form and this time it will hopefully get submitted. Provided all your details are correct and genuine.
