Guillermo Del Toro the master of monster movies is coming to the small screen with a horror series to be released on Netflix. The Oscar-winning director has become a hot property after the unbeaten run of his critically acclaimed movie Shape of Water. Apart from this Guillermo Del Toro has delivered some masterpieces like Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy and Pacific Rim in the past. He has finesse over portraying the story around bizarre characters, so he is perfectly suitable to work on a horror anthology series. Del Toro has earlier tried his hands on the horror genre with Tom Hiddleston starrer Crimson Peak. Now, it will be interesting to see more content coming from ace filmmaker.
The Netflix series will be titled Guillermo Del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight and will feature horror tales selected by him. He will be directing few of the episodes alongside co-producing the series with Shape of Water producer J. Miles Dale, as reported by Deadline. The news site also added that ” they will handpick a team of too horror writers and new filmmakers to bring his selection of stories to life.”
This is not the first time Guillermo Del Toro will be working with Netflix as he previously created Emmy-winning fantasy series Trollhunters with DreamWorks Animation. The series revolves around a teenage boy who finds a mysterious amulet and ventures into a secret realm inhabited by trolls and magical creatures. Since the launch of the show, Trollhunters has been widely praised by the critics as well as audiences for being an extraordinary animated series. So, with 10 After Midnight series coming on Netflix, Del Toro will become a crucial member of the streaming family.
Also, Guillermo Del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight is not be the only horror project that he is working on right now as one of his other project titled Scary Stories to Tell in Dark movie for CBS films will be coming sometime this year. We surely have something to look forward to with back to back horror projects coming from Guillermo Del Toro.
