Hungama entertainment is back with their second series, Hankaar after a failed a first attempt with thriller Damaged. Damaged boosted good actors but it failed big time on the execution and story part. However, this time Hungama Entertainment looks all set to leave its mark on the ever expanding web platform with a solid mystery thriller Hankaar. The series is set in the backdrop Mumbai city and gives a glimpse of sordid activities that happen in the metropolis. The story untangles the life of multiple characters as they unknowingly play a crucial part in a plot controlled by someone else. The series promises to take viewer on the gripping journey that is filled with twists and turns in the underbelly of Mumbai.
The series is being released on 27th July and viewers can check it out on Hungama Play, Hungama’s video on demand platform. While talking about the launch of Hungama’s second original show Neeraj Roy MD & CEO said “Through Hungama Originals, we aim to tell stories that are differentiated and resonate with digital audiences across the globe. Hankaar spins a plot that is riveting and has universal appeal while being set in the underbelly of Mumbai. We are certain that our content, combined with our distribution strategy and international presence, will help us increase our viewership by 100% by the end of the fiscal year.
The plot of the series introduces to the dreaded underworld don, Z, who rules over the city of Mumbai. To him the residents of the city are just pawns on the chessboard who will help him in achieving his goals. In this game of crime we are introduced to five individuals who are unrelated to each other and are trying to make it big in the city of dreams. The crime drama will showcase how lives of these people are controlled by Z and how they play a major role in his big plan.
The thriller is produced by Hungama, Pocket Films, Talkaholics Productions and Cancom, which comprises of finest actors from TV and films. The cast includes Ujjwal Chopra as Z – the underworld don, Yogini Chouk Borhade as Nisha, Rajesh Balwani as Pradeep, Sharda Nand Singh as James, Prammod Sanghi as Mangesh, Ram Menon as Joy and Shahnawaz Pradhan as the ageing mafia don – Mamujaan. The show is directed by Sanjay Bhatia, Ravi Iyer and Yogi Chopra, while Tarun Rajput serves as the creative director.
With success of Sacred Games and powerful content like that it will be quite difficult for other series to woo the audience. Netflix’s Sacred Games has set the bar very high for the upcoming series.
