STEP 1 –

To get YouTube dark theme in Android device, first of all, check if you have the latest updates app on your Android device. If not, before starting with the steps for how to get YouTube dark theme in Android, go to the PlayStore and update the Youtube app or simply visit the link to update now.



STEP 2 –

After this, the next step is to install the ADB and Fastboot on a PC.

STEP 3 –

After this, you need to enable the USB Debugging on your Android device. For this, simply go to the Developers Options on your Android device and turn on the USB Debugging right from there.

STEP 4 –

When USB debugging is done, the next step is to download the YouTube Dark Theme ZIP file, from Download Mirror. The file to be downloaded is YouTubeDarkTheme_ADB_Restore.zip


STEP 5 –

After you download the ZIP file, the next step is to extract the ZIP file named, YouTubeDarkTheme_ADB_Restore.zip, and copy the ‘ab’ file and simply save it to the folder where the ADB binary is stored.


STEP 6 –

After this simply open a terminal window on your PC from the ADB folder. If you are using a Windows PC, simply go to the ADB folder that should be in C drive and then type cmd in the address bar, and then hit the enter key.

STEP 7 –

Now, you need to run the command in your PC, below are the codes for the prompt for different OS by XDA.

  • Windows Command Prompt:

    adb restore YouTubeDarkTheme_XDA.ab
  • Windows Power Shell:
    .\adb restore YouTubeDarkTheme_XDA.ab
  • macOS Terminal:
    ./adb restore YouTubeDarkTheme_XDA.ab
  • Linux Terminal:
    ./adb restore YouTubeDarkTheme_XDA.ab


STEP 8 –

Now, open your Android device and restore the data for full restoration of the data.



Now, restart the Youtube app, the dark theme will be enabled. But, if the dark theme doesn’t appear, make sure to reboot the device and then try. If the Youtube app crashes, there is no need to worry, try again.
