How to setup ADB and Fastboot-

ADB and Fastboot are the developer tools in the world of Android OS platform development. Both ADB and Fastboot are used to send terminal commands from one device to another, and in most case, between a PC command line and Android device. What is ADB?

ADB acronym to Android Debug Bridge is a type of command line tool that allows the user to communicate with a device and it works when the device is powered on and booted into OS or Recovery. The main function of the adb and different adb commands is that these can be used to facilitate different device actions, like installing and debugging of the apps, and not only this, it also provides access to a Unix shell that the user can use to run a variety of commands on the device. ADB is basically a client-server program that includes three components,  that is, a client, a daemon (adbd), and a server. The ADB tool helps in sending basic Linux commands, and a variety of Android-specific commands from PC to connected Android device.

 What is Fastboot?

Fastboot is similar to ADB, but a more powerful tool than ADB and it is a protocol which can be used to re-flash partition on your device or we can say, that it updates flash files system in Android devices. It is a small tool which works only in bootloader or the fastboot mode and comes with the Android SDK or known as (Software Developer Kit). Talking about the main advantage of Fastboot is that, it is very useful when you want to update your device manually also in very rare circumstances when you accidentally soft-brick your device and need to install a clean stock system image.


The procedure to install ADB and Fastboot is a very tricky task on a Windows PC. Snoop has developed a small program to quickly install ADB and Fastboot files on your PC (system-wide) along with proper drivers.

How to setup ADB and Fastboot on Windows


STEP 1 –

First of all, you need to download the ADB Installer, that is, adb-setup-1.4.3.exe file. It can be downloaded from APK Mirror, or you can simply visit the link below.

If the above-mentioned version is not working properly, you can try using another version of the ADB Installer, here is the link for version 1.3, try downloading the previous version of ADB Installer.

STEP 2 –

After downloading the ADB Installer, run the adb-setup-1.4.3.exe file.


STEP 3 –

After doing this, a command prompt window will appear, with a blue background. All you need to do is allow to all the prompts appearing on the screen. To do this you need to give the YES command, simply type “Y” letter and hit the enter key.
