Esports Industry in India has grown a lot and undoubtedly will be the next big thing. The esports is already a gigantic industry across the globe with teams of seasoned professional players playing for millions of dollars, whereas the Indian Gaming Industry’s development is comparatively slower, but it is not stopping at all, and experts claim that by the year 2022 there will be a massive demand for gaming in India. Esports in India is taking small steps and growing gradually giving major credits to the enthusiastic gamers who have successfully transformed the mindset of the Indian society of esports industry. Along with that, we must not forget to mention about the companies which supported gamers, organised games and still scheduling exciting events with a colossal prize money to build the stronger foundation of the Indian esports Industry.
The League of Extraordinary Gamers (LXG) is one of the companies which has slowly made a name in the Indian gaming industry and organised several Local Area Network (LAN) gaming tournaments and still infusing enthusiasm among the Indian gamers. For nine months, the enthusiastic gamers faced-off each other in more than 30 tournaments which included 21 Minors and 6 Majors for the prize pool of Rs. 20 lakh (around USD 29,950).
ILG Season 2
Now LXG is back with the bang with the Second Season of ILG Cup and this time it will be much bigger blast than ever. The season 2 will last for 7 months commencing from 7th April 2018 with a total series of more than 170 LAN gaming events and each event will be streamed online across all social media gaming platforms with thousands of viewers. To the surprise this time, the tournaments will be held in 16 cities across the country from which the 27 high performing esports gaming cafes are shortlisted where the events will go live, putting together the enthusiastic gamers against each other challenging in 8 popular game titles with 3 of the main games being DOTA 2, CS: GO & FIFA 18, the year also announces three newly introduced ‘showcase games’ and the ‘community games’. With one of the showcase games being revealed as the popular online multiplayer shooter – Overwatch, the second season of ILG will also be hosting tournaments for the popular FPS shooter Call of Duty and the newly developing export – Rocket League. The two community inspired games have been announced as the popular battle royale shooter PUBG (PlayerUnknown’ Battlegrounds) and the second community game will be Rainbow Six: Siege. The prize pool of ILG Cup has been raised up with an enormous amount of Rs. 1 crore ( around USD $153,322) which is 650% more than that the price pool of ILG Cup Season 1 and by this the ILG Season 2 comes in stronger, supporting Indian esports economy.
This season of the Indian LAN Gaming Cup proudly partners with Logitech G holding the appellation of being Powered By sponsor. The company will be showcasing its products with enhanced Logitech G gaming peripheral experience zones which will be installed at 10 of the best esports cafes around the country. The series of weekly organised esports LAN gaming events aims to build on the existing growing community of gamers in India and engages gamers right from entry level to all the way to the top tier teams representing the country on International platforms.
