Jack Ryan Series Starring John Krasinski Renewed for Season 2 by Amazon

The actor John Krasinski, known for his roles in The Office, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi shot to stardom with his directorial debut A Quiet Place. The movie starring him and Emily Blunt in the titular role has raked in almost $200 million and is being praised by both critics as well as audiences. Now, the hard work behind the hugely successful, A Quiet place has finally paid off as Amazon Prime Video has ordered the Season 2 of Jack Ryan even before debuting the first season. This only proves that currently John Krasinski is in huge demand and this move by Prime Video just assured that he is available for season 2 as soon he will be getting busy in his next directorial, a sci-fi film called Life on Mars.

Amazon not only announced the ordering of season 2 but also added that the production would begin this summer in Europe, South America, and the United States for the story that revolves around the CIA operative confronting “the forces in power in a dangerous, declining democratic regime in South America.” The highly anticipated series from the Amazon Prime Video is based on the character by the same name who has appeared in many Tom Clancy’s books.

The story of the first season will see CIA operative tackling the ISIS with the terrorism-focused plotline. Carlton Cuse (LOST) and Graham Roland (Fringe) both are serving as the series show-runners. As reported by Collider the showrunners will be mixing things up for the second season, and both will be continuing the same role in taking the series ahead. John Krasinski will also serve as the executive producer along with reprising his role in season 2.

Currently, Amazon Prime Video is little behind the streaming giant Netflix. However, Amazon which has already achieved 100 million subscriptions is expecting an increase in these numbers. Jack Ryan is the primary series that will be coming from Amazon Prime Video and lot is riding on it. To create buzz around the upcoming series, a teaser was revealed during the super bowl TV spot which gave the glimpse of the character trying to bring peace and fight off bad guys.

The latest development by Amazon for ordering the season 2 way ahead is good business move and assures that there will be no delays in the series because of John Krasinski’s busy schedule. We will have to wait and see how good or bad is this movie as no one has seen the series, but John Krasinski’s involvement adds much credibility to the project. You can catch the high adrenaline series when it debuts on August 31.
