Will ‘Mortal Engines’ be Just Another Movie Showcasing Dystopian Future?
The trailer for Peter Jackson produced ‘Mortal Engines’ was released and gave us the glimpse of another dystopian future. Lately, the lot of movies have been released which focus on the dystopian world. Few of them have been good like Mad Max which was a visually brilliant and action-packed.
There is a reason I have mentioned Mad Max as you see the trailer you will similarities between the two. he only difference which I was able to observe, was that it has moving cities on wheels rather than cars. The story is based on the novel of the same name by Philip Reeve.
The film has been in works for a long time with one of the most robust writing team which includes Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens. Whereas, Christian Rivers is at the helm of the movie who has experience of working along with Jackson as a storyboard artist for Braindead and continued work on visual effects of movies like LOTR, King Kong, etc. With Mortal Engines he will be making his directorial debut.
The film is based in the future when the cities on Earth roam around on wheels and battle other towns. Finally, consuming the defeated ones for resources. The trailer depicts London city on wheels running behind the small town in a world which is in ruins. You can see Rivers experience of the visual artist coming to life with fantastic work. Let’s see will he be able to do justice to the script written by one of the best filmmakers.
