Mowgli Trailer, A Glimpse of Andy Serkis’ Dark Take on ‘The Jungle Book’

Another adaption of Rudyard Kipling‘s famous work Jungle Book is here with ace actor Andy Serkis at its helm. Warner Bros. has finally revealed the trailer for the much-awaited movie titled Mowgli. As per Andy Serkis, who is also directing the movie, Mowgli will be the much darker portrayal of the Rudyard Kipling’s work as compared to 2016 released Disney’s Jungle Book. The film will focus on Mowgli (Rohan Chand) who is a feral child torn between his upbringing in the jungle and the human world he has never known.

The trailer for Mowgli is undoubtedly true to the words of Andy Serkis as it portrays a dark tale of Mowgli who struggles to find his place in the world. In his recent interview with Collider Andy Serkis mentioned that his adaption is more close to the Kipling’s work as the book also focuses on the darker side and is not a fantasy story. The book is primarily derived from the life experiences of Rudyard Kipling in the era when British Empire ruled most of the world. The trailer also hints towards the impact of Indian culture on the story and Andy Serkis is trying to weave that into the narrative. The focus on Indian culture rather than focusing only on talking animals makes the movie more intriguing. With the trailer, Warner Bros. and Andy Serkis have surely grabbed my attention.

Another plus of this stellar movie is its spectacular cast that includes Christian Bale as the cunning panther, Bagheera; Naomie Harris as Nisha, the female wolf, who adopts the baby Mowgli as one of her cubs; Andy Serkis as the wise bear, Baloo; Cate Blanchett as the sinister snake, Kaa; Benedict Cumberbatch as the fearsome tiger, Shere Khan; Peter Mullan as the leader of the wolf pack, Akela. It will be inevitably interesting to see how the master of mo-cap, Andy Serkis has brought all the animals to life alongside this, behind the scenes for movie will also be a treat to watch. Mowgli arrives in theatres on October 19th.
