Saif Ali Khan Ready For Majestic Comeback With Netflix’s Sacred Games

Sacred Games a do or die series for both Saif Ali Khan & Netflix!!

Kaalakaandi didn’t perform that well on the box-office, and this adds to the worries of Saif Ali Khan. However, he is ready to start his new innings on the smaller screen and reach to the broader group of audience. As Netflix is geared up to air the series titled Sacred Games starring Saif in the titular role.

Saif Ali Khan starrer Sacred Games is based on the novel of the same name written by Vikram Chandra. The acclaimed directors namely Motwane and Anurag Kashyap are at the helm of the series. The show is not only backed by the presence of Saif Ali Khan but also have talented actors like Nawazzudin Sidiqqui and Radhika Apte in significant roles.

The story will draw audience deep into the life of Inspector Sartaj Singh portrayed by Saif Ali Khan, and the criminal mastermind, Ganesh Gaitonde characterized by Nawazzudin Siddiqui. It is a story of friendship and betrayal set in the backdrop of Mumbai city.

In an interview with IndianExpress Saif discussed making his debut on the small screen, and how he feels about it “It (web series) is not any way the comedown, it is a step in the new direction (for me as an actor). It is very liberating as an actor to have a platform (like Netflix) to act in.” Saif seemed more of excited about his new inning and added that he “jumped at the idea of working in a web series” when he was offered the project.

“There is a certain quality to Netflix, it is not (typical). It has an international feel to it. Also, Vikramaditya Motwane is a wonderful director and is a responsible showrunner. β€œHe is comparing us to House of Cards. It is going to be the best show coming out of India, and I am hopeful everyone will be proud of it,” he said.

The series will be a tough test for both Netflix and Saif Ali Khan as after the recent failures this is the only chance with which they can make a strong comeback. Netflix is already getting a tough fight from its rival Amazon Prime Videos who is currently few steps ahead with the release of R Madhavan starrer ‘Breathe’ in the coming week. It will be interesting to see how effectively they bring the acclaimed novel to life as up till now they have checked all the right boxes by getting a compelling cast and director.
