Indian Web Series have broadened their way in the span of last few years, as the audience’s interest and curiosity in the web series has incited the creators to come up with more and more relatable, mint and desi content. Last year ‘RISE’, a web series presented by Ultra Shorts made us fall in love with the content and the acting too. I am contented to inform you all that this 4 episodes series has been shortlisted to make its way to the illustrious LA Web Fest.
Rise is a web series, presented by Ultra Shorts starrs the very talented Vikrant Massey as Shrey, a 20-something IT professional, who just got leave off even as he was celebrating his latest possession – a bike worth Rs 8 lakhs. Shrey meets his perfect contrast in 55-year-old Sharmaji, played by Atul Srivastava. What bear this rather unlikely duo together is a life-changing road trip. Rise is most watchable because of the amazing chemistry between Shrey and Sharmaji.
This Los Angeles Web Fest for web series is as equal to the Sundance Film Fest for Films. It is the most primeval, leading and the largest web series festival in the world. The outstanding part is, from the bunch of 65 web series from over 6500 entries across 38 countries, ‘RISE’ is the only one from India to make its way to THE LA Web Fest.
Rise is set to be screened at Sony Studios, Hollywood next month. It has also been nominated for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama’ and ‘Outstanding Cinematography in a Drama’. While this is certainly intriguing news for Indian creators, it also indicates well for the Indian web content scene as a whole. With this international recognition for Rise, it would be pleasure to say that Indian web content has truly arrived with the virtue of something different.
