  1. To grant the access to your account Make sure the person to whom you want to access your account has a Gmail account.
  2. Now open your Gmail account and Click the Settings icon in at top right corner (it appears as a gear icon).
  3. Select Settings from the menu.
  4. A new page will open with multiple options, you have to select the Accounts and Import tab.
  5. Now scroll down and find the option Grant access to your account section and Click on Add another account.grant access to your account
  6. Now, a new pop will appear asking you to enter the Gmail email address of the person to whom you want to access your account
  7. Now, Click Next Step.
  8. Finally, Click Send email to grant access.grant access to your account
The person to whose email address you added will receive a mail to accept the request.

  1. Sing-in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on your profile icon in the upper right of your Gmail page.

The owner of the Gmail account and the assigned delegates can read and send mail simultaneously through the delegated Gmail account.

What a Gmail Delegate Can and Cannot Do?

An assigned delegate to a Gmail account can do a number of things like reading messages sent to you, send emails, and reply to emails that have been sent to you. However, When a delegate sends a message through the account the email address that appears as senders email is their own personal account. A Gmail delegate cannot chat with anyone for you, and he also has no rights to change your Gmail password.

Removing Delegate Access to a Gmail Account

To remove a delegate from accessing your account follow the steps below:

  1. Login to your Gmail account
  2. Now, Click the Settings icon in the upper right corner of your screen in Gmail.
  3. Click on Settings from the menu.
  4. Now select Accounts and Import tab.
  5. Scroll and find Grant access to your account, here the email address of the delegate will appear, click on delete to remove the account.
  6. Click OK.
