Star Wars: The Last Jedi Crossed the $1 billion & Still Ruling Box-Office!!

Star Wars The Last Jedi Ruling The Box Office Like Unbeaten King!!

Welcome to the year 2018 my fellow human. We hope you had an excellent 2017 and enjoyed various movies that released last year. Disney for sure had a blasting year with them acquiring Fox studios and ending the year with Star Wars: The Last Jedi with a bang.

Star wars raked in $52.4 million at the domestic box office during this weekend and maintained its top spot with Jumanji just behind it. The movie also passed the $1 billion mark at the box-office joining films like Beauty and The Beast, Fast and Furious 7. However, Star Wars was the only among these three to deserve the spot in billion dollar category. This was already expected from the Disney tentpole which is still able to woo the audiences to the theatres even in its third week.

However, Star Wars also received backlash from many fans which led to the subsequent score of 51% at rotten tomatoes. Even this was not able to stop the behemoth from churning out money at the box-office for Disney Studios.

As the year came to an end the top five movies for this weekend are –

Title                                    Weekend Domestic BO       Total Domestic BO
1. ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’              $52,446,000                $517,144,228
2. ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ $50,570,000               $169,825,967
3. ‘Pitch Perfect 3’                            $17,780,000                  $64,268,470
4. ‘The Greatest Showman’            $15,270,000                  $48,785,986
5. ‘Ferdinand’                                    $11,650,000                  $53,810,105

There will not be the significant change in this list till the beginning of February as Black Panther is only one to shake things up. Movies like Ferdinand & The Greatest Showman will face competition from upcoming Insidious: The Lost Key. So, we can say that Star Wars is here to rule for one more month in 2018.
