The Grinch Trailer Review, newly imagined version of the holiday classic

The Grinch, is an upcoming animated family comedy film, directed by Yarrow Cheney and written by Michael LeSieur. The Grinch revisit animated film starring Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange and Sherlock star) as the neon green grouch.

The Grinch

Illumination, the studio behind Universal’s animated features as Despicable Me and Minions, is behind this new take on the classic 1957 Dr. Seuss story. The original animated film first premiered in 1966 and has remained a seminal touchstone of the holiday season.

The Grinch

Grinch’s character
The Grinch is depicted as a furry, green humanoid who doesn’t want social contact living in solitude on a cliff overlooking the cheerful and optimistic town of Whoville. He neglect the Christmas season and the festivities customarily celebrated during the holiday; apparently irritated by the happiness of others and deriving pleasure from spoiling other people’s merriment, reminding me of Ebenzer Scrooge from Charles Dickens novel, Christmas Carol. Helped by his pet dog, Max, he disguises himself as Santa Claus and breaks into the Whos homes to steal their holiday decorations and gifts. Although his plan works, he is angered on Christmas morning to find the Whos singing cheerfully despite his actions.Convinced that the holiday must carry a meaning distinct from its decorations and gifts, the Grinch returns and distributes his stolen goods to the Whos, with whom he thereafter celebrates. Nevertheless, the Grinch is still portrayed as a bitter and ill-tempered character in artwork or other media.

The Grinch in the trailer is portrayed as a green creature with a remarkably small heart for his body size, hates Christmas and anything happy. He and his trusty canine Max embark on a crazy mission to steal the tinsel trees, gifts, and food from the Whos of neighboring community Whoville. Walks in the store mischievously, murmuring to do the mean things but in a style. Seeming to be funny, the trailer grabbed my curiosity to watch Grinch getting irritated on the Christmas in a funny way.

Scheduled to hit the theatres on 9 November, 2018
