Paramount studios have debuted the trailer for their upcoming Transformers reboot movie Bumblebee. The film is the spinoff of the Transformer franchise which has eventually fallen from grace after every ridiculous sequel by Michael Bay. The franchise which had a great start with Transformers slowly succumbed to the weight of poor storyline and character development. Now, with Bumblebee: The Movie Paramount is trying to breathe life back into the Hasbro character. The trailer for the Bumblebee is undoubtedly refreshing and gives hope of good movie that lives up to the Transformer lore.
Bumblebee: The Movie is directed by Travis Knight, the director of highly acclaimed animated movie Kubo and the two strings. The film is set in 1987, 20 years before the arrival of other transformers on the earth. The story revolves around a young teen named Charlie Watson portrayed by Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect, The Edge of Seventeen) who finds a Volkswagen beetle in the dump and decides to take it home. Soon she finds out that its an Autobot called Bumblebee. The movie surely gives a feel of E.T. or Stranger Things as it is built on the same concept. It will also drive in the nostalgia factor being set in the 80s, and we get a glimpse of that when the lead character uses a cassette to play music.
The 3-minute trailer also shows some good action sequences and we have also got John Cena in the significant role which plays a member of the secret government agency Sector 7. While discussing the movie during CinemaCon the actor and WWE star said that “It was an incredible experience working with director Travis Knight, he is a special kind of storyteller with a sensitive heart. One thing that was incredibly important to me with the relationship between Bee and Charlie Watson was that it was authentic and it was emotional, and I think we accomplished that.”
The trailer for the Bumblebee: The Movie makes me happy that one of the favourite franchise is undoubtedly now in good hands and gives us a Transformer movie which we have always wished for. The film is written by Christina Hodson who is also penning the script for DC’s Birds of Prey and Batgirl film. The remaining star cast of the Bumblebee: The Movie includes Peter Cullen, Kenneth Choi, Pamela Adlon, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., and Martin Short.
