Upcoming Superhero Movie Release Dates From 2018 to 2019

Halfway into 2018, it has been made clear by the sound of box-office cash registers that most popular genre around these days is superhero movies. Most of its credit goes to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige who dreamed of superhero universe where stories merged with each other leading to a moment of the most significant crossover. Avengers Infinity War proved to be that milestone which will echo in the history of filmmaking. However, credit should also be given to Christopher Nolan who brought Dark Knight trilogy to life in such a way which no one ever envisioned. Now, with every major studio working on bringing their comic book properties to life and cash in on the craze behind these movies. Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. have laid out their plan for decade’s worth of material, but it can get tough to keep track of so many excellent movies coming your way. So to help you with that we have decided to list down all the upcoming superhero movie.

We have shared the titles which are either in discussion phase or the work on them is in progress. Moreover, we will be updating this guide regularly with most current developments related to these projects. So get your fanboy suit ready and mark down these dates in your calendar.

1. Ant-Man and the Wasp

Release Date: July 6, 2018

Cast: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Walton Goggins, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Randall Park, Judy Greer and Hannah John-Kamen

Updates till now: Evangeline Lily will take the mantle of The Wasp and with the help of his fellow superhero Antman she will go on the mission to find her mother portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer in the Quantum Realm. The movie is set before the incidents of the Avengers Infinity War. From the trailers, it seems that it will be a joy ride with lots of laughs and epic action sequences. There is also a possibility that Antman & Wasp will try to connect some dots with the Avengers Infinity War story in the post-credits. The fanboys will surely try to find the easter eggs related to Avengers 4 in this upcoming superhero movies.

2. Incredibles 2

Release Date: June 15, 2018

Directors: Brad Bird

Cast: Craig T. Nelson(Bob Parr), Holly Hunter (Helen Parr), Sarah Vowell (Violet Parr) and Samuel L. Jackson (Lucius Best)

Updates till now: It been almost ten years waiting for them and they made up for that time by arriving with a bang. Incredibles 2 will pick up from the exact point where the first one ended. The story will revolve around the Mr. Incredible taking the role of a father to take care of their three kids with superpowers whereas Mrs. Incredible aka Elastigirl will resume her role of superhero to save the world from baddies. 3. Venom

Updates till now: This upcoming superhero movie is based on one of the most popular and loved Spiderman villains, Venom. The story will be loosely connected to the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there are rumors that maybe we get a cameo from Spiderman himself. The Venom is played by the Tom Hary, and he will face Carnage and other symbiotes villain in the movie. 4. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Updates till now: The movie will be animated, and the spiderman will be an American-African kid named Myles Morales. There have been many successors of original spiderman whom we know as Peter Parker. For the first time, we will get o see the various versions of the friendly neighborhood superhero. The teaser for the upcoming superhero movie didn’t reveal much about the plotline however the visuals and animations are a pure class which will offer an enjoyable experience to every Spidey fan.

5. Aquaman

Updates till now: Aquaman will try to bring back the lack-lustered DC universe back into the game. Jason Momoa’s portrayal of Aquaman was well received in the Justice League, and now he will be reprising his role for the standalone movie. The expectation from this upcoming superhero movie is quite high, and with James Wan, at the helm who is known for films like Conjuring, there are hopes from it. 6. Hellboy

Updates till now: Mike Mignola has written the story for the reboot as opposed to the already established Guillermo Del Toro’s trilogy. The upcoming superhero movie will star Stranger Things actor David Harbour in the lead role, and Milla Jovovich will be portraying the role of antagonist, Blood Queen. This take on Hellboy will be 100% R-rated. And we hope both the actors and director will be able to do the justice to the dark characters of this comic.

7. X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Updates Till now: The upcoming superhero movie is a sequel to decent X-Men: Apocalypse and titled as X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The plot will focus on X-Men going on their first ever outer-space mission when a solar flare hits the X-Jet which ultimately leads to conversion of Jean Grey into Dark Phoenix. Jessica Chastain will be playing the antagonist, and we hope that with Simon Kinberg at the helm the X-men universe is resurrected again.

8. Captain Marvel

Release Date: March 8, 2019

Cast: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Clark Gregg, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, and McKenna Grace.

Updates Till now: This upcoming superhero movie will mark as the Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie. The character of Captain Marvel was first teased in the Avengers Infinity War in the post-credits scene. Being the most powerful superhero, she will play a much more significant role in the fight against Thanos. Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) are writing the screenplay, and Oscar-winning Room actress Brie Larson has been set to star. The movie will be set in the 90s, and we will get to see the young Nick Fury, and it will also bring Agent Coulson back into the MCU. Jude Law will star as the alien Mar-Vell and love interest of Carol Danvers.

9. Shazam!

Updates Till now: Chuck Alum Zachary Levi is off to Toronto to start work on DC Comics’ upcoming superhero film Shazam. The film centers on a young boy named Billy Batson who can transform himself into a superhero by uttering the word “Shazam.” The character has superhuman strength, flight and speed abilities along with other powers. It is one of the favorite DC comics characters and will play a significant role in taking the DCEU ahead. Recently at an event, the costume for the upcoming superhero movie was revealed, and it has received mixed reactions from the fans.

10. Avengers 4

Updates Till now: The recently released Avengers Infinity War has changed many things in the MCU. The movie left us in shock and destroyed all the fan theories with a snap of a finger. Now yet untitled Avengers movie will have the original Avengers along with Rocket fighting against Thanos to bring back the half of the universe’s population. The upcoming superhero movie is almost a year away; however, the fan theories and hype around are still very high and it appears that they are unlikely to go down.

11. Gambit

Cast: Channing Tatum, Lizzy Caplan

Updates till now: Channing Tatum has been eyeing for the role of X-Men mutant for a while now. The character was first introduced in Wolverine however at that time it was played by a different actor. The movie based on Gambit has been on the radar of many fans also, however, it has experienced a whole lot of hiccups and finally, the wheels are moving. The Fox Studios has yet to finalize on the director of the movie.

12. Spider-Man: Homecoming 2

13. The New Mutants

Updates till now: The movie was earlier slated to release in 2018 has been shifted to late 2019 as Fox wanted to make it more dark and horrifying. So, the movie has gone to reshoots and more updates will be shared. The story will also ditch traditional superhero costumes and supervillains in favor of telling a story about these young mutants locked up together in some facility, mirroring a horror haunted house vibe.

14. Wonder Woman 2

Updates till now: The movie has moved into production earlier than expected. It will be set in the 80s and there are rumors doing round that Chris Pine may return to reprise the role of Steve Trevor. And earlier it was announced that Kristen Wiig will portray the role of villain, Cheetah.
