Vivo unveiled the most interesting and innovative phone in the year 2018, the Vivo Nex, which was launched last month in China and finally landed in India today. The smartphone sports a pop-up selfie camera, truly bezel-less display and houses the top-notch features. So, the question arises about the durability of this bezel-less beauty and its all-new camera module. Is it Tough or just a gimmick?
The smartphone was recently put to a series of tests by the renowned tester Zack Nelson on his JerryrigEverything YouTube channel, and in his test, and the phone transpired as a sturdy device.
Zack tested the NEX S (high-end NEX version with a Snapdragon 845 SOC) and his agonizing smartphone durability evaluation started with the most touted the pop-up selfie camera.
As the camera unit is hidden at the top edge of the phone, so when you open the camera app, a small motor pushes the camera module out and vice-versa. When the camera is out and you force it to close, the camera dips a bit and again comes out to the original position. However, if you push it too hard, it will simply slide down in its cave without any jiggle or any hardware failure.
On the other hand, if you try to grasp the camera unit, the motorized system is powerful enough to pull it back, unless you are determined on pushing it to its limits. In addition, the camera system is metallic build and the lens won’t get scratched easily as it is made up of high-quality glass.
The device also sports another major advancement of 2018 – the in – display fingerprint sensor. As Nelson did the scratch test, it can be said that the screen of the smartphone is quite scratch resistant. Also, in the flame test the Super AMOLED screen of the smartphone lasted for around 6 seconds, which is pretty impressive according to the tester.
The smartphone also sports dual glass form factor with a metallic sheet between both the glasses. The glass design might seem fragile but in the bend test, the glass panels didn’t crack on either side.
Overall the device performed extremely well and we have to say that it is not just a gimmick to Target the customer, it a true example of the perfectly engineering in the smartphone industry and a roadmap for the other phone makers to create their future smartphones.
