American telecom giant AT&T in 1984 broke down resulting in forming the SBC or Southwestern Bell Co. The newly created company became a national telecom company in no time where SBCglobal was the internet services provided by the company. SBC Communications offered dial-up and Internet services as well as telephone services in the nation. Also, the users of the Internet services can send and receive e-mail using the suffix “sbcglobal.net.” By the year 1990, the company was renamed again as SBC Communications.
Talking more about the SBC communications, the company was in the news when it acquired shares of AT&T, and in the year 2005, the company changed the name to AT&T Inc. So, both the companies are same, and if you try to reach Sbcglobal.net, you will be directed to the home page of AT&T high internet services. And today, if you see the address “Sbcglobal.net,” you might be seeing an email address suffix or a reference to the websites for AT&T. These email addresses can’t be obtained or addressed simply. But if you want to access this, you need to configure your email client and must use mail server addresses to exchange messages on your SBC Global account. For example, to send messages using Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail, you must use “smtp.sbcglobal.net” as the receiving mail server. If this address is not configured correctly, as we have talked above, your outgoing mail will not be sent.
After SBC Communications merged with AT&T, the existing users of the company gained the ability to check their Sbcglobal.net email accounts with the Yahoo Mail client. And not only this, high-speed Internet service of the users became “SBC Yahoo DSL.” So, this is the reason that after the merger of the companies, Sbcglobal.net refers to SBC Yahoo DSL Internet service.
So, this is all you need to know about the SBCglobal. Hope, this helped you, if you have any suggestions, let us know in the comments section.
