The biggest Dota 2 tournament ” Dota 2 International 8″ is all set to take place in Canada this year on 20- 25th August. Unlike, previous year’s tournament this year competitive season of the Dota 2 more bigger, more competitive and will be of a higher prize pool of around $25 million. Here’s are all details regarding the Dota 2’s 2018 competitive season.

Tournament Format

Unlike previous year this time, Dota 2 Competitive Season has introduced certain changes. This year tournament will not have single-tournament. Instead of that, Valve is in favor of the several tournaments throughout the year. They will reward competitive points and those points will be used to determine the who will invite to the final championship tournament, Dota 2 International 8. 

Throughout the Dota 2 competitive season, there will total of 26 tournaments will be held in which there will 16 Minors tournaments and 10 Major tournaments. Minor tournaments will award 300 worth competitive points across the top four teams and Major will receive 1,500 points across the top four teams.

There will be the distribution of points according to this format:

  • First Place Team – 50% points
  • Second Place Team-30%
  • Third Place Team-15%
  • Fourth Place Team-5%

The eight teams will be invited to  The International 8. The eight teams will be determined by the teams having the most points among their top three players.Other teams can then make it to the International 8 via regional qualifier competitions.

Majors Tournaments

  • The Bucharest Major: March 8-11
  • Dota 2 Asia Championships: March 30-April 7
  • EPICENTER: April 27-May 7
  • Mars Media: May 14-20
  • ESL: May 25-27
  • PGL: June 4-10

The International 8 Venue And Ticket

The International 8 will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia at the Rogers Arena. This will a debut for Canada to host an International event.

“Tickets sales begin on Friday, March 23 at 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM PDT, with two ticket types available,” according to the Dota 2 website.

“The Midweek ticket—available for $125 CAD—will grant attendance to the first four days of the event, August 20th – 23rd. The Finals ticket—available for $250 CAD—will grant access to the last two days, August 24th and 25th.”

Tickets will be sold via Ticketmaster at the above mentioned times.
