Just before few months from the release date on Nintendo Switch, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has officially rated Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution “T” for Teen. It is the first game in the series to get the Teen rating.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution
This rating is quite unusual as the game is the updated port of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy Of The Duelist game. The original title was released back in 2015 and did receive E10+ rating for Fantasy Violence, Mild Blood, and Suggestive Themes. But, this version got s rated T for Fantasy Violence, Mild Blood, and Partial Nudity. According to the site, some card depicts “characters getting bitten, slashed with blades, or struck by arrows”, “small blood drips or splatters”, and “suggestive material/nudity” which are enough to give T rating.
As Yu-Gi-Oh cards are heavily censored in the West, some are speculating that Link Evolution could use the uncensored Japanese card artwork, which would clearly justify the ESRB’s comment.
